Unite: Nella nostra Università nessuno parla Inglese...parola di Erasmus...

Ha ragione Stefano Alessiani quando sul suo Stato di Facebook posta una lettera di protesta da parte di alcuni studenti stranieri ospiti per il programma  di studio "Erasmus".
Scrive Alessiani " Studente Erasmus che ci racconta la sua esperienza Erasmus a Teramo....Razzismo, nessun corso universitario in inglese, se non conosci l'italiano è inutile seguire i corsi universitari, all'ufficio "Internazionale" nessuno parla inglese, manco i ragazzi gestori DELL'ESN (studenti volontari al servizio degli studenti stranieri) parlano inglese, perfino il corso di Inglese è in italiano! Etc etc etc complimenti all'università degli Studi di Teramo, davvero, complimenti!".

Prof. Luciano D’amico Dear Rector, We were Erasmus students in your University and we would like to share our problems and feelings about your University. We wished it would be a thankful letter after our education period in Teramo but unfortunately it is not … We were dreaming about living in Italy because we love Italian culture and we really wanted to learn your beautiful language. Unfortunately this whole experience at Teramo University was very disappointing. Time, that we spent there, was not good at all because people at the university were so rude and racist about the language and foreigners. The important thing is that Teramo University does not have any requirement about the level of Italian language for Erasmus students. In our opinion all of the students should speak Italian at minimum B2 level, without this level is impossible to take part in lectures and what is more pass the exams. On the university website there are a lot of courses in English but when we came here we figured out that they did not exist. Even our English courses were held in Italian! Starting from the beginning, it is unacceptable that in “International Office” nobody speaks English especially that at the begging of our exchange program our Italian is not that great. Some of us do not speak Italian at all! They had many problems with their documents and they had to find a person who is speaking English and Italian. Do you think it is fair? If we knew that we cannot survive here without Italian we would choose different university in Italy where English is not a problem. We wonder if it's a international office or a family company ? How those people got this job? Second thing is the ESN group. And again, nobody from this group speaks English. All of information at social media were in Italian and when we had meeting we asked for someone who can translate in English and one of the ESN crew told our friend: “If you are in Italy you have to speak Italian”. Our friend answered her “Excuse me, if you go to China do you speak Chinese?” That was so shamed that everybody laughed at her. What is more, we were really shocked that “Erasmus Welcome Day” which was organized by ESN crew and Prof. Giannini was in the middle of November… Don’t you think it's a little bit late for a “welcome event”? You can't do this before we leave.
Prof. Giannini also wasn't so nice when we were asking her to sign our papers. The important thing not only for Erasmus students but also for Italian students is Prof. Rosati and her behaviors. We decided to choose English courses and later we really regretted it. We would never think that with our English level we will have problems to pass the tests but we did not know that “English courses” will be held in Italian. Also to pass the exams you have to know Italian at the same level as English. Is it an English lesson or Italian? Because as prof. Rosati said “When you would like to have exam in English you should go to England. You decided to come to Italy so tests are in Italian”. If we are not in England why she calls herself an “English Teacher”? The worst thing is that Prof. Rosati is also an Erasmus department coordinator for most of us. She is always screaming at people if they ask anything. Don’t you think that Coordinator for foreign students should be the first person that can help us not who is the troublemaker? She is really unhappy person and tries to bring it into others lives. Teacher should be the person who we can be trusted and talked to without any hesitation not a person who we are afraid of. You should definitely change this army system in your university. Prof. Vaccarelli required us to come for her classes but it was pointless because we didn’t understand anything and she never asked us to be part of the course like for example reading the text in English. Why she wants us to come if she didn’t care about us at all. We would like to say that in the end we got really good results but it doesn’t change our feelings at all. We think that Prof. Vaccarelli is a nice person but sharing her office with Prof. Rossati it changes her personality too. Actually we understand why your students can't speak English because it's not easy to speak with her with any language. This is what Italian students think also. We met some beautiful people also for example Prof. Diodati she has been so nice and helpful and her English is much better than your English teachers. 
And we would like to thank to our amazing Italian teachers Mrs. Sabrina and Roberta. They were so nice helpful and great about teaching. If those people weren't there we would be unlucky and helpless students. We will never forget them. They are kind warm and happy people maybe you should recommend to Prof. Rossati to go there and learn how to be nice to students and how to smile.
If your university don't like Erasmus student you should cancel your agreements with the universities. This letter written by most of your Erasmus students. We finished our study there (thanks heaven) but we won't let this things happen to other Erasmus students. And this letter will be sent to main international office and post on social media. We hope you could hear our voices and change this bad situation in your university .

Io ho avuto modo di conoscere l'Esn sono bravi ragazzi e anche molto preparati, una volta all'olmo eravamo con tutti gli erasmus spagnoli e inglesi, beh loro correntemente parlavano sia spagnolo che turco e provavano anche a insegnare qualcosa di italiano ai turchi. mi pare difficile che questo che scrive sta lettera abbia avuto problemi...boh per me l'esn di Teramo seppur piccola funziona bene.
Alla faccia dell’internazionalizzazione di cui si riempie la magnifica bocca! Altro che cabinovia… Profonda vergogna!

Nei concorsi pubblici e' prevista la prova d'inglese, quindi se si è dipendenti pubblici si conosce l'inglese. Gli studenti scriventi sostengono che all'ufficio relazioni internazionali nessuno parli inglese: e' da verificare ...sinceramente i commenti a questo post, del tipo, chissà se qualcuno avrà capito la lettera: la risposta e' : si'...e basta con i qualunquismi... Alla fine e' una denuncia per una prof in particolare ...quasi un'analisi comparativa del suo comportamento con quello di altre due prof. Non conosco la prima, sulle altre concordo pienamente con il giudizio positivo dei ragazzi. Per il resto a me sembra che la Giannini e gli studenti dell'associazione si facciano in quattro per accogliere e assistere gli studenti erasmus. Con questo voglio semplicemente invitare a non prendere per oro colato tutto quello che si dice o si scrive...ascoltate sempre l'altra campana

 Anonimo, io parlo inglese dalle prime edizioni della Coppa Intermania come molti ragazzi di Teramo della mia Generazione.
Era l'unica lingua per unire i popoli.;)
 

Prof. Caporale, confermo la veridicità della lettera scritta Eyyup Altin e che può trovare su questo link https://m.facebook.com/groups/33536369509?view=permalink&id=10154099461… ma il punto non è la lettera in sé, la questione nodale è l'internazionalizzazione del sistema universitario aprutino.... E aggiungo, qualche settimana fa è stato annunciato l'arrivo di 15 dottorandi, provenienti dal tutto il mondo, per fare ricerca all'UniTe per i prossimi tre anni, come si rapporteranno con un sistema che pretende l'italiano come lingua necessaria??? Non siamo "noi" a doverci adattare al mondo ma si ha la pretesa di chiedere al mondo di adattarsi a "noi" e questa pretesa mi lascia perplesso.... Molto perplesso.
Ragazzi e' famosa Teramo per la padronanza Della Lingua Inglese. Lo sanno anche a Oxford!
Dear Erasmus students, I am sorry for your bad experience at Unite, but I wonder why you have not complained about it during your stay. I would like to ask you some questions: 1) You have written: “ On the university website there are a lot of courses in English but when we came here we figured out that they did not exist”: which are these courses? I would like you make a list of them. It was written that they were in English or they were simply written with their names translated in order to be understandable? It makes a difference! I have heard of some seminars in English, but not of any courses (and the same teachers of the seminars usually complain about their students’ insufficient knowledge of English.) 2) You have written that our students cannot speak English because of an awful teacher, but you should know that our students are supposed to have a B2 level when they start university, so if they do not have it, it is not our teacher’s fault, as you can easily understand. 3) Do you know the meaning of defamation/libel? I am not a lawyer but your letter sounds a bit libelous. 4) As about Prof. Giannini you have written that she was not so nice when you asked her to sign your papers. Why? She is a wonderful person and if she was not so nice as she always is, she would have had her good reasons. Waiting for your answers, sincerely an English speaker employee you have never met
@employee Non conosco la realtà dell'Unite quindi non so in che percentuali siano vere le accuse di questi Erasmus; per esperienza "internazionale", diciamo così, credo però che queste percentuali siano alte. Ad ogni modo il punto non è questo, il punto è che lei risponde (in maniera quantomeno intimidatoria, che sia stato voluto o meno) tralasciando le accuse più gravi degli studenti, e cioè che: -l'Unite non specifica alle università con cui ha accordi che è necessario un livello minimo di conoscenza dell'italiano, come molte invece fanno, italiane e straniere; -nessuno all'URI sappia parlare quantomeno inglese; -nessuno dell'ESN sappia parlare quantomeno inglese. Sono d'accordo sul fatto che non possono pretendere corsi in inglese, in quanto non è la prassi in giro per l'Europa (in Francia sono quasi tutti in francese, così come in Portogallo il portoghese, in diverse università tedesche il tedesco e persino in Catalogna in catalano): alcune università prevedono certi corsi in inglese e il numero sta crescendo negli anni, ma molte restano legate alla lingua madre. Posso anche capire la critica sul perché non abbiano denunciato immediatamente, ma in parte, capisco come ci si possa sentire al loro posto. Per il resto, la sua risposta -che dubito verrà mai letta qui, magari provi sul gruppo Facebook se non l'ha già fatto- la trovo, nei restanti punti, insoddisfacente: -il ragazzo scrive "nessuno sa parlare" intendendo dire "moltissimi non sanno parlare" e non letteralmente, e questo lo dimostra il fatto che dopo un po' dice che ha parlato con alcuni che hanno la stessa loro opinione su quell'insegnante. Lei replica che dovrebbe sapere -parafrasando, non riporto la traduzione letterale- che si suppone che i ragazzi abbiano almeno un B2: sorvoliamo sul perché degli Erasmus dovrebbero sapere una cosa del genere, ma perché si suppone? Perché è un requisito minimo? E in tal caso è stato controllato con un test preliminare? O per quale altro motivo? -lei dice che la signora è una persona tanto cara: beh, la sua parola contro la loro (come è vero il viceversa sia chiaro, anche la loro è solo parola), non può essere un argomento utile a smentire dire "no non è vero perché in realtà è brava". A me rimane la sensazione di una figuraccia, come mi conferma lo stesso post sul gruppo Facebook, e di molta incompetenza; nutro qualche dubbio su come si faccia carriera lì dentro, ma mi fermo qua che sennò ricevo velate minacce anch'io. Buona serata. PS se lei è un dipendente dell'Unite che sa l'inglese ma non ha a che fare con gli studenti Erasmus è ben poco utile per loro questa sua conoscenza.
Quanta Pena fate. Quanta Pena fa l'UniTe con i difensori di Ufficio. Per favore tornate a imboscarvi come il Vs solito. Che per le promozionj ancora c'e' da aspettare. Per gli errori di Google passo dopo?
@massa massa: ricambio il sentimento di pena: mi fanno pena i qualunquisti come lei @andrea: grazie per l'attenzione e mi dispiace che abbia rilevato un tono intimidatorio perché non era assolutamente nelle mie intenzioni: cercavo solo dei chiarimenti . Ha ragione quando dice che ho tralasciato di parlare del fatto che all'uri e esn non si parli inglese, ma questo lo do' per scontato: i ragazzi dell'esn parlano inglese e gli impiegati dell'uri per aver superato un concorso devono aver superato anche la prova d'inglese. Per quanto riguarda la persona della prof. Giannini, tutti passando per i corridoi dell'unite possono vedere quanto si prodiga per gli studenti e quando dico che doveva avere le sue buone ragioni nell'ipotesi in cui appunto si fosse mostrata poco cortese sono convinta che a provocarla ci fosse qualche comportamento errato da parte degli studenti . Non volevo postare la mia lettera qui inizialmente e infatti mi rendo conto che avrei fatto meglio ad evitare, visto che volevo che gli studenti mi chiarissero dei punti ed era quindi una questione personale ben lontana da una presunta difesa d'ufficio, ma purtroppo non sono riuscita a postarla sul gruppo.

Caro Falco ma che cazzo glie ne frega ai politicanti che stanno dietro alla nostra università di conoscere le lingue, l'importante a Teramo è costruire cementificare tutto. Non hanno costruito l'università in quella zona franosa e tutti lo sapevano ? Fino a poco tempo fa non c'era nemmeno un minimo di parcheggio e quello che hanno fatto sta franando. Non c'erano altri posti ? Per esempio il vecchio manicomio o la zona ex Spica ? Evidentemente si DOVEVA costruire lì................................
I professori di inglese, se sono tali, dovrebbero parlare SOLO in inglese durante le lezioni, a prescindere dal pubblico che hanno di fronte.
.. all'Unite ci sono ben due corsi di laurea magistrale completamente insegnati in lingua inglese. Provare per credere.
E' vero o no che nell' “International Office” nessuno parla inglese? Se si, vi sembra accettabile? Qualcuno ha qualcosa da dire? Perche' Magnifico comunicatore non ha risposto alla lettera degli studenti? Troppo impegnato in politica degli annunci faraonici, Masterplan, TUA, etc etc ? Non ritiene forse che ruolo di Rettore, soprattutto in ragione di un situazione DISASTROSA dovrebbe occuparlo a tempo pieno. Se poi vogliamo discutere sui numeri del disastro esiste ricchissima documentazione... allego?

Io non voglio in assoluto giustificare l'ignoranza e la scortesia percepita da voi... non lo farei mai! peró non mi sembra che io abbia ricevuto un tratamento migliore nelle Università partner dove sono stata (Siviglia e Granada). Mi parlavano solo spagnolo (e all'inizio non capivo nulla) e mi sono dovuta subito corciare le maniche. Non ho mai preteso che parlassero inglese né che mi spiegassero le cose che non capivo. Inoltre i corsi in ligua erano a pagamento (300/400€)... a Teramo sono Gratis!! A volte noi studenti pretendiamo un servizio, e invece di affrontare il problema in maniera sportiva e con determinazione, pensiamo che tutto sia dovuto. È anche questo che poi genera a sua volta questa "scortesia", a mio avviso.
